Frequently asked questions
Counselling is a safe space to explore challenges, emotions and coping strategies. Sessions are focused on growth, resilience and practical skills rather than “fixing” anyone. Therapies can be tailored to fit your needs.
The first session is an opportunity to:
● Review goals and what support is needed
● Discuss practical details like session format and frequency
● Introduce approaches such as narrative, expressive or nature-based exercises
● Start exploring strategies that fit your energy, thinking and lifestyle
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Extended sessions and initial child + parent sessions are 75 minutes. Extended sessions are available occasionally for deeper work, creative exercises or to meet individual needs.
Yes! Sessions are available securely online or in-person. We can discuss what format works best for you or your child. Many of the people coming to see me prefer in-person sessions, which I am happy to accommodate.
No specific preparation is needed. Bring:
● Questions or concerns
● Topics you’d like to explore
● Optional: materials for creative or expressive exercises (supplies are provided in office but if you have something special you want to bring to help you be comfortable please do)
Sessions can be adapted for focus, energy and sensory needs, so clients feel comfortable and engaged.
